Our Facilities

The lovely building which is Long Street Backpackers, consists of sixteen separate apartments. Some have been converted into social areas, while others are the sleeping rooms. We think it is the best located Cape Town hostel. Right smack in the middle of Cape Towns social centre. We have four large furnished balconies that provide twenty four hours of live entertainment every day from the street below. Across the road is Mama Africa, so you can enjoy each balmy night listening to the live African music while enjoying a beer or cocktail.

An unassuming entry from the main street leads you to the large and leafy courtyard, filled with all sorts of plants and furniture to help you soak up the sun. The reception/bar plays funky music all day to suit our young and happy staff. Any tour or travel question you have can be answered here. Our mission is to help backpackers in Cape Town get the best tours for the cheapest price.

There are some quiet lounge or dining rooms adjoining our communal kitchen. It has everything you need including eight stove tops, an oven, three big fridges and all the pots, pans plates etc to cook for everyone at one time.

Lounge lizards and couch potatoes can laze the days and nights away in our super comfy television room. There is cable tv with all the movies and sport you can handle and a DVD player you can use. We have been told it is easier to spend a day without leaving our hostel than any other Cape Town hostel.

There is a laundry, internet access, book shelf, pool table, free sheets and blankets, storage room, barbecue you can use any time, maps, guide books and more. The bar, reception and travel desk are open from early to late, so checking in is never a problem. Airport transfers can be arranged along with any trip or tour through Africa your heart desires.
